Great Qin: The Nine Dragons Vie for the Throne? I’ll Raise an Army and Rebel

After transmigrating to the Great Qin dynasty, he became Ying Lie, the Ninth Prince.

To choose a suitable heir, Qin Shi Huang summoned all the princes and put them to the test.

Ying Lie: The remnants of the Six States dream of restoring their kingdoms? Burn their books, and unify the written language and systems.

Ying Lie: A shortage of talent and vacant official posts? Establish the imperial examinations to promote scholarship and recruit poor scholars from across the realm.

Ying Lie: A corrupt court full of officials colluding with one another? Create the Western Depot to monitor every official, with imperial authority to act as it sees fit.

Ying Lie: A food shortage so severe that people are eating their own children? The potatoes I planted will be ripe in half a year.

Ying Lie: An empty treasury with no money for disaster relief? Reform the tax system and make the nobles and wealthy gentry pay their overdue taxes.

Qin Shi Huang: What a pity you're a son born to a concubine.

The other princes: Well said. Don't say it again.

The ministers: Letting a son born to a concubine succeed the throne goes against the ancestral rules.

Ying Lie: I treat the Ancestral Dragon as my father, but he treats me like an enemy?

Ying Lie: Then to hell with the test! I'm raising an army in rebellion!
