Great Qin: Drinking Wine at Eight to Set National Policy

The First Emperor ordered Zhao Gao to secretly send guards searching for eight years.

At last, they found the orphan left behind after the disappearance of the woman he had loved: his eight-year-old son, Ying Shaoxuan.

Overcome with emotion, the First Emperor went alone to see Ying Shaoxuan, only to find the little boy drinking wine at such a young age.

Alarmed, he rushed over to stop him.

But just then, he heard Ying Shaoxuan shouting that he would rebel and avenge his late mother.

He shouted that the first thing he would do was plant the miraculous crops he had discovered: potatoes and sweet potatoes that could yield thousands of jin per mu.

The First Emperor's face changed dramatically. Such divine crops existed in the world?

Then he heard the drunken Ying Shaoxuan say, "That heartless old man, my father, has just finished unifying the realm. I bet he's still trying to figure out how to govern this vast land."

The wine jar toppled over, and Ying Shaoxuan became completely drunk. Before falling asleep, he murmured unconsciously, "Unify the written language, standardize the width of roads, unify weights and measures, centralize power, and govern the realm through commanderies and counties."

The First Emperor trembled with excitement. His young son’s words had enlightened him, making the way to govern the future Qin state suddenly clear.
