Three Kingdoms: Ranked Last on the Golden List, I Was Demoted to Yanmen Pass!

I thought I had a dream start from the start.

But who could have guessed? The Qilin Gold Ranking appears, and the eldest prince, Liu Yuan, places dead last!

Liu Hong flies into a rage and summons the eldest prince to the palace for an examination.

But faced with classical Chinese that looks like tadpoles, Liu Yuan's eyes glaze over.

It's over. I'm screwed!

How did I, a college graduate, become illiterate in the Eastern Han Dynasty?

Father! Please hear me out!

Liu Hong declares, "The Crown Prince is pure-hearted, but lacking in ability. He cannot bear the responsibilities of the position. He is to leave at once for Yanmen to guard the frontier. Without an imperial summons, he must never return to Luoyang!"

Years later.

The Southern Xiongnu rebel, kill the Inspector of Bingzhou, and overrun all four commanderies.

Worried for his son's safety, Liu Hong sends an urgent summons from a thousand li away: "Eldest Prince, withdraw your troops south at once!"

Liu Yuan: "I swear I will not retreat!"

Liu Hong is furious again. "This disgrace to the imperial family thinks he's so capable, does he?"

"Report! The eldest prince has retaken the four northern commanderies with the Great Snow Dragon Riders!"

"Report! The eldest prince has raided the Xiongnu royal court from a thousand li away, watered his horses in the vast northern sea, and erected a monument on Mount Langjuxu!!!"

Liu Hong: "Could this Gold Ranking be fake?"
