Ordered to Collect Money: If I Can't Beat Them, I Can Only Join Them

Emperor of the Empire: Cao Renqi, you’re going to the Western Canaan Province too. Take up the post of Commander of the Consolation Guard.

Cao Renqi: No way... The border army dares to surround and slaughter people... Going there would be suicide...

Emperor of the Empire: You may act as you see fit. I only want results.

Cao Renqi: Your Majesty... You said it yourself...

One year later...

Emperor of the Empire: You fool! I told you to act as you saw fit, not to join them!

Cao Renqi: Your Majesty... Here’s the list of corrupt officials in the five western provinces. Just kill them according to the list, and you can’t go wrong. How could I understand them without joining them?

Emperor of the Empire: Aren’t you on that list too?

Cao Renqi: Ninth Princess, save me! I have a secret stash. We can raise an army and take down your imperial brothers and sisters... Then we can make you empress!

Emperor of the Empire: ...
