The Imprisoned Phoenix

In her twenty-three years of life, Wang Jiu had never suffered such humiliation.

She would never forget that day. In the pouring rain, she, the empress of the Eastern Zheng Kingdom, knelt outside Liang Chong'an's bedchamber and begged him to spare the countless commoners in Duancheng and Pingyang, the cities he had conquered. The Western Liang Emperor Chong'an was bloodthirsty and cruel, always fond of ** and burying prisoners of war alive. Wherever he went, bones filled the ditches.

"What... do you want me to do to spare my people?" Wang Jiu asked.

Liang Chong'an ordered her to take off her clothes, then leisurely looked her over as if she were a porcelain vase or a Pekingese dog*: nothing more than a plaything.
