The Age of Declining Dharma: The Three Pure Ones Bury Me from the Start

Shi Jiu was a good person for nine hundred and ninety-nine lifetimes, and should have been taken as a disciple by Taiqing Laozi.

But Taiqing and the Lord of Heaven, Tongtian, became so engrossed in discussing the Dao that they lost track of time.

In the end, Shi Jiu's lifespan ran out.

To make it up to him, Taiqing invited the other five Saints to hold the grandest funeral imaginable for his disciple.

Eight great disciples of the Jie Sect carried the coffin, while the Twelve Golden Immortals of the Chan Sect stood vigil.

The two Saints of the West came in person to chant sutras.

The Demon Ancestor Luohu was overcome with grief: "We hadn't even decided who was stronger! How could you just die like that?!"

Who knows how many years later, Shi Jiu was... dug up by his own descendants.
