Xu Fu, courtesy name Junfang, was a native of Langya County, Qidi. He was a famous alchemist in the Qin Dynasty and a close disciple of Mr. Guiguzi. Erudite and knowledgeable in medicine, astronomy, and navigation. In the twenty-eighth year of the First Emperor of Qin, Xu Fu was ordered by the First Emperor of Qin to lead 3,000 boys and girls eastward to Yingzhou to search for the elixir of immortality for the emperor. However, before Xu Fu could bring the elixir back to the court, the emperor had passed away and left for the west. This novel and its characters are purely fictitious.
