The Imperfect Rules of Love

Have you ever heard of a fourth kind of love? That's how I felt the first time I saw you.

That day, I asked him, "Do you know what the first kind of love is?" He said he did.

Then I asked him, "Do you know what the fourth kind of love is?" His cheeks instantly flushed red. He shook his head, then gave a small nod. He didn't say a word, only lowered his head even further. I said nothing more. I just rested my hand gently on his head, feeling the soft, fluffy texture of his hair against my palm. It was warm and ticklish, as if something hidden deep inside me had been stirred. All the disdain and indifference I'd carried at work seemed to come crashing down in an instant.
