Overpowering the Journey to the West: Starting by Upgrading the Golden Cudgel

After transmigrating to the world of Journey to the West, Chen Ran becomes Sun Wukong. He thinks that once he escapes from beneath Five-Finger Mountain, he'll accompany Tang Sanzang on the journey to retrieve the scriptures, just as the story goes, and attain Buddhahood.

But instead, he unexpectedly binds to a Divine Weapon Modification System, and from then on, Chen Ran leads the master and his four disciples down an unconventional path of slaying demons and retrieving the scriptures.

Chen Ran: "Master, I'll get myself an AK and get you a shotgun. Let's build big and make a comeback!"

Tang Sanzang: "Fight monsters, level up, farm dungeons... Wait! Wukong, are we really going to the Western Heaven to retrieve the scriptures? Wukong, remember, you must not take life!"

Chen Ran: "Master, killing monsters drops loot. Would you kill them or not?"

Tang Sanzang: "You cheeky monkey! Can you call what we pilgrims do killing? This is clearly subduing demons, vanquishing evil, and saving all living beings. As the Buddha says: If I do not enter hell, who will?"

Chen Ran: "All right, Master. Please stop chanting. I know you're a master of putting a positive spin on things."
