Treasured Myths: Talking with Wukong and Flattening the Buddhist Sect

Ye Bei hosts a show modeled after a popular program on Central TV: Conversations with Mythical Figures.

Facing Sun Wukong beneath Five-Finger Mountain, now dispirited and mediocre, he says:

Do you really think you're still the Great Sage Equal to Heaven?

You're nothing but a pathetic monkey pinned beneath Five-Finger Mountain!

They control everything about you, from your birth to your becoming that cowardly dog of the Buddhist sect who bullies the weak and fears the strong!

Sun Wukong refuses to believe it. He is unwilling to give in and refuses to become such a wretched creature.

I want the sky to never again hide my eyes! I want the earth to never again bury my heart! I want all living beings to understand my will! I want every god and Buddha in the heavens to vanish into nothing!

For ten thousand years to come, everyone will remember my name: Great Sage Equal to Heaven, Sun Wukong!

At Mount Olympus, Ye Bei faces Zeus, the arrogant king of the gods, who looks down on everyone, and rebukes him:

As for character, you, the mighty king of the gods, have a scandalous private life.

As for strength, any gatekeeping Heavenly King in my Celestial Court could trample your Hall of the Gods into the ground!

You lose on both character and strength. What do you have to be proud of?
