Treasured Myths: From the Start, I Talked with Sun Wukong at Five Finger Mountain

Ye Bei hosted a show modeled after one on the national broadcaster: Dialogue with Mythology.

He faced Sun Wukong beneath Mount Five Elements, a monkey who had lost his fighting spirit and become thoroughly mediocre.

"Do you really think you're still the Great Sage Equal to Heaven?

You're nothing but a pathetic monkey trapped beneath Mount Five Elements!

Someone has controlled your entire life, from your birth to the moment you became a bully who picks on the weak and fears the strong, a dog of Buddhism!"

Sun Wukong refused to believe it. He was unwilling to accept it, and even less willing to become such a wretched being.

"I want the sky to never again cover my eyes! I want the earth to never again bury my heart! I want all living beings to understand my will! I want every god and Buddha in the heavens to vanish into nothingness!

From this day forward, for ten thousand years, everyone will remember my name: Sun Wukong, the Great Sage Equal to Heaven!"

At Mount Olympus, facing Zeus, the arrogant king of the gods who looked down on everyone, Ye Bei rebuked him:

"As for character, you, the mighty king of the gods, have a disgraceful private life.

As for strength, any gatekeeping Heavenly King from my Celestial Court could trample your Hall of the Gods into dust!

You have neither character nor strength. What exactly do you have to be proud of?"
