Back to 1988: The Years in Ssangmun-dong

This is a heartwarming story about everyday life among neighbors.

H Country in 1988.

It was neither the 386 era nor the 880,000-won era,

but the era I lived through, whose days I remember vividly:

on payday, the yellow bag of chicken Dad brought home,

Mom putting Dad's rice bowl deep inside the bedding,

the whole family huddling together and whispering,

a whole house shared by three families, where we sat and watched,

the neighbors in the alley, living as one and sharing everything. I still remember them all.

Memories of the past rise faintly to the surface, keeping me tossing and turning all night.

They became the foundation of life today!
