If I Could Live My Life Again

A retired university professor is old and retired, and feels that life has lost all meaning. At home, he wonders: Who am I? Where did I come from? What will I be like after I die? How did people become human? By what laws are we put together? Is someone, somewhere, controlling all of this? A mother's womb is a furnace in which the laws of a person's existence are forged. Everything in the world operates according to certain laws, doesn't it? Without laws, people might give birth to pandas, and * might give birth to fish. So whose laws are these? Can we master them?

His own insignificance reflects the vastness of the universe. Sitting around discussing philosophy is pointless. Now that he is retired, there is nothing left to hold him back. He sets out to investigate the cause of his wife's death. With his mind set on dying, he embarks on an unknown path.
