Synopsis

Was Tang Xuanzang, who had returned from his pilgrimage to the West, actually a demon corpse?

Had Jin Chanzi and his fake disciples stolen the immense merit of Tang Xuanzang, Sun Wukong, and the others?

Had Buddhism been plotting everything for hundreds of years?

What did any of this have to do with the Tang Dynasty?

Li Shimin: Leave the Buddhist scriptures. The people can be **.

Chen Ling: Your Majesty, since we have no use for them, we should return them to Mount Ling.

The Jade Emperor: What? The Tang Dynasty wants to make another journey west to return the scriptures? Good! All the celestial beings in Heaven are to go into seclusion and keep their chains on.

The Tathagata: Return the scriptures? They're the foundation of merit for all ages! Besides, who in the Tang Dynasty could make the journey west again?

Ananda: World-Honored One, the Tang Dynasty's Imperial Preceptor has arrived...
