My Maid Is a Celestial Fox

I wandered in a daze,

for hundreds of thousands of years.

I was once an immortal in the heavens,

and endured the condemnation of the world.

I thought I had tasted every bitterness and sweetness life had to offer,

but only when you glanced back did I realize this was still the mortal world.

I once asked my master, "What is the righteous path? What is the evil path?"

My master said:

The righteous path is square: it follows rules and conforms to the will of Heaven.

The demonic path is round: its lines meet at a single point, never to part for all eternity.

My master said:

Those who cultivate the righteous path take life and death lightly, devoting themselves wholly to the Dao.

Those who cultivate the demonic path draw their swords against Heaven for the sake of the one in their arms!

Later, my master asked me in return:

I had no answer. I didn't even know what the Dao was.

Until one day, I met you...

And then I understood!

I cannot follow the righteous path. It demands that I cast off all worldly attachments, but you are what I cherish. Forgetting you would be too hard.

I cannot follow the Buddhist path. It teaches compassion, but you always defy Heaven. For your sake, I will not cultivate it!

I cannot follow the immortal path. It drifts with the current, but you are not at the river's end. Even if I reached the end, what would it matter?

So...
