The Tang Dynasty's National Fate: Taking Charge of Its State Religion from the Start

After transmigrating to the early Tang dynasty, Zhang Chu found himself in an era when Li Er had murdered his brothers and forced his father to abdicate, making his rise to power illegitimate. The Turks were taking advantage of the situation to make demands, disasters plagued the land, and powerful clans controlled the imperial court.

From the start, Zhang Chu took charge of Taoism, the state religion of the Tang dynasty, becoming the Tang imperial preceptor and binding himself to the fate of the empire.
