This book mainly writes about the great harm caused to the country and society by the overt and covert fighting between the eunuch group and the Donglin Party members. There are no completely good guys or completely bad guys in the play, there are just people who are sometimes good and sometimes bad based on their own interests. Everyone is turning the needle of fate, trying to turn it in a direction that is beneficial to themselves. This is true for good people, bad people, and people who are neither good nor bad. The main plot of this novel is the overt and covert fighting and mutual slander between the eunuch group and the Donglin Party; the subplots include: the palace transfer case; the replacement of the Liaodong economic strategy and the disputes over the pros and cons of the two parties behind the replacement;
