About This Novel
Mr. Bones is an old dog who can understand English and think, and is also the closest companion of the dying poet Willy. After wandering together for many years, they went all the way to Baltimore to look for Willie's young English teacher Mrs. Swanson, but accidentally came to the former residence of Edgar Allan Poe. On the front steps, Willie said goodbye to Mr. Bones and set off for Timbuktu, a "spiritual oasis", a place of eternal nothingness. Mr. Bones, who lost his owner, lived on the street and was adopted twice. He ignorantly accepted sterilization surgery, a dog chain and a dog house, but he always kept the fire of freedom and loyalty in his heart. At the end of his life, he tried his best to escape from the luxury kennel, hoping to reunite with Willy in Timbuktu.
