Twelfth Floor (classical Library)
by Li Yu
About This Novel
This book is a collection of narrative novels written by Li Yu following the first and second episodes of "Silent Play". It was written around the end of Shunzhi. There are twelve novels in total, and each story uses a building as the central focus. It can be seen that they are created by the author in a planned way, which also reflects the author's creative thinking of always pursuing novel and ingenious stories. Individual chapters of these novels, such as "Ten Buildings" and "Sheng Wo Building", inevitably have description distortions due to their excessive pursuit of plot ingenuity. However, overall, they still very vividly reflect the various aspects of social life in this specific historical period of the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties. They are worthy of being the best among the Qing Dynasty's imitative novels.
