About This Novel
Frank and Helen were both children of British diplomats. They met in Rome, formed a friendship when they were teenagers, and lived together in the Netherlands, but they never became a real couple. Frank became a famous painter with Helen's help, but he had constant affairs. Although Helen was smart, she didn't know how to fight for herself in her love life. The two separated and reunited, and were entangled throughout their lives. In their later years, they met by chance on the streets of London, and then went to a country house to relive their old dreams. The elderly Helen re-examined her relationship with Frank over the years, and the unequal emotional transactions finally gave her the idea of revenge.
