About This Novel

"Skylight in the Sky" is currently the most important novel by Malaysian Chinese writer Li Tianbao. It describes from the 1920s to the 1970s, and opens the curtain of destiny with a "sister-generation marriage". It tells the love-hate entanglement, family ups and downs of Chinese sisters Yang Jinrui, Yang Yinrui and their descendants of three generations. It highlights the sad and desolate life stories of eight women and the Kuala Lumpur city style in the author's memory. Yinrui's husband's family broke off the engagement because she had chickenpox. Jinrui married into the Zhong family on her sister's behalf and became the head of the Meiyuan Restaurant. Yinrui pursued her to Nanyang and married Ayong, a small businessman. The two of them staged different ups and downs in life between rich and poor. And the family's blood ties and the ever-tangled threads of fate are entangled in the descendants of Jin Rui and Yin Rui. Jin Rui wanted to get rid of her poor past and was unwilling to return to her hometown until she died. In her pursuit of power and her secret regret for Yin Rui, she watched them die early or leave one by one, and eventually died alone...
