The story takes place in the middle of the Warring States Period. As soon as Duke Xiao of Qin died, Shang Yang was sentenced to be quartered with five horses. Zhu Huan had always been opposed to Shang Yang during his lifetime. Now, his soul came to gloat over Shang Yang's misfortune and sentenced Shang Yang to "exterminate his entire family and divide his body into pieces", and told Shang Yang that this was his destiny that he could not escape. But Shang Yang disdained and refused to obey the destiny. He said: "Although Lord Shang is dead, his methods will remain undefeated for thousands of years. Although Lord Shang is dead, one hundred and seventeen years later, the Qin Dynasty will dominate the world!" Because he knew that destiny was not unavoidable. From the day he was born, God wanted him to die, but he lived for fifty-two years.
