About This Novel
In the first year of Jiayou's reign, Renzong of the Song Dynasty, on the third day of March, at the quarter of Xu. As night falls, in small Jiangnan towns like Lingzhou, the streets have long been deserted. The busy streets during the day have become dark under the cover of night. There is no moon in the silent sky, but the outlines of the houses on both sides can still be vaguely seen. A lonely crow is perched on the eaves, coldly staring at the empty street below. In the distance, a dim light appeared on the corner of the street, swaying towards it. The light was a lantern carried by a young woman named Ye Jin. She was the only daughter of the Ye family in the east of the city and came back from her aunt's house in the west of the city. Her aunt is an old woman, and old women's bones are easily broken. This morning, her aunt was hit by a carriage and broke her leg. The carriage flew out of the city and disappeared without a trace.
