About This Novel

This novel tells the story of the Anshi Rebellion, which was a war started from the end of Xuanzong to the beginning of Daizong in the Tang Dynasty (December 16, 755 to February 17, 763) by the Tang generals An Lushan and Shi Siming after they betrayed the Tang Dynasty. It was a civil war with the Tang Dynasty to compete for dominance, and was a turning point for the Tang Dynasty from prosperity to decline. This civil war caused the Tang Dynasty to lose a large number of people and its national power was sharply reduced. Because the commanders who initiated the rebellion against the Tang Dynasty were An Lushan and Shi Siming, the incident was named after An Shi. And because it broke out during the Tianbao period of Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty, it was also called the Tianbao Rebellion.
