About This Novel
In the spring of 1988, our family of three and our simple furniture were driven by a Jiefang brand car for three hours from a place of more than 60 kilometers to a small gray county town. My mother and I sat in the cab, and my father had to sit on the carriage. In the reversing mirror, I saw my father's hair standing upright in the wind, and his glasses were covered with dust. He didn't even have time to take them off to wipe them, so he just wiped them with the back of his hand, but they were covered again immediately. This makes him look like a clump of dead grass standing on the carriage. But my father is definitely not a dead grass. He is an excellent middle school teacher who was sent to a small county to teach. The place we are about to go to is called Shuangyang County. Since the country resumed the college entrance examination, there has not been a single college student.
