Teahouse (illustrated by Ye Qianyu)
by Written By Lao She And Illustrated By Ye Qianyu
About This Novel
"Teahouse" is a masterpiece of Lao She's drama, and it is also a classic play often performed by the Beijing People's Art Theatre. This play was completed in 1957 and first performed by the Beijing People's Art Theater in 1958. It depicts the epitome of modern society and the times through a teahouse. Teahouse owner Wang Lifa's bleak management of the ancestral "Yutai Teahouse", although shrewd, tactful and hard-working, finally failed to prevent the decline, which reflected the trend of Chinese society from the side. The illustrator of this book, Ye Qianyu, is good at creating traditional Chinese paintings focusing on dance and drama characters. He is the founder of Chinese comics and life sketches. This book is listed in the "Illustrated Editions of Masterpieces by Modern Chinese Masters" series.

It's okay. I haven't seen the theater version. I'm watching the TV series now.
