About This Novel
Chekhov is a world-class master of short stories in Russia and the last critical realist art master in Russia in the late 19th century. Together with the French writer Maupassant and the American writer O. Henry, he is known as one of the "three major short story writers in the world". This collection collects 9 short stories. The self-righteous girl in "The House with the Attic" is an interesting contrast to the girl in "Ariadna", and it also increasingly shows the insignificance of the girl worth 150,000 rubles in "Living Commodity". These six pieces are representative of Chekhov's early short humorous works.
