About This Novel
"Tokyo Tales" contains five short stories, namely "The Accidental Traveler", "Hanalei Bay", "Wherever You May Be Found", "The Kidney Stones Move Every Day" and "Shinagawa Monkey". The most bizarre of the five stories is the last one, "Shinagawa Monkey". A young woman named Ando Mizuki suffered from a kind of "amnesia syndrome" and could not remember her own name once or twice a week. After many twists and turns, it was found that the "amnesia syndrome" was caused by a monkey... Although it is a "fantasy", Haruki Murakami still discusses metaphysical life issues in the novel. Tan Tongtan, Qitan means strange talk and strange news. As we all know, most of the titles of Murakami's novels are frivolous and avoid reality, but this collection of short stories is exactly the same as what it appears to be. It is indeed a strange story that took place in Tokyo.

To be honest, don't read this book if you are timid.
I personally don't like the content of this book. It doesn't have much connotation. Anyway, I didn't learn anything and I would be very scared if I read it alone.

Sure enough, each one is more amazing than the other. Sometimes it's a blessing to not understand a story at all!

Before I read it, it showed that I had already read it. Then I finished reading.

Strange things in Tokyo
This collection of strange stories contains a total of five short stories, namely The Accidental Traveler, Hanalei Bay, In All Possible Places, The Kidney Stones that Move Every Day, and Shinagawa Monkeys, all of which are strange stories that happened in Tokyo. Accidental traveler Accidental travelers are full of coincidences. The story begins with two coincidental incidents that happened to Murakami himself, and then gradually leads to an interesting incident that happened to his friend, a pianist. It can be considered as a number of coincidences overlapping together. It tells the story of a woman that a pianist met by chance, who had the same habits as him. By chance, he discovered a black mole on her body, which reminded the pianist of his sister. Coincidentally, both of them had breast cancer and needed to be reviewed the day after tomorrow. If the first story still has a bit of a coincidence, then the second story starts to tend towards supernatural events. Hanalei bay Xing's son was accidentally bitten off his right leg by a shark while surfing and died. Xing also saw things and missed people every day. Once someone said that he had met a man with a broken leg. Xing thought this might be her son, but when she went to look for it, she didn't see it at all. I couldn't help but wonder, am I not qualified to be a mother? Was it past indulgence that led to the death of his son? Why can others see it but not myself? It is unknown whether the man with the broken leg is Lucky's son. Maybe he just didn't want to see his mother so sad that she didn't show up for a long time. However, from another perspective, doting on children may also become the culprit of indirectly killing the children. However, being immersed in this kind of guilt will also cause pain to follow. In all possible places It mainly tells the story of a securities company broker who disappeared mysteriously after taking care of his sick mother one Sunday. His wife then asked a detective to investigate, but they only found that the broker often sat on the sofa on the stairs to think and look in the mirror, but nothing else was found. Twenty days later, the wife accidentally found her husband lying on a bench in Sendai Station, far away from Tokyo, but the husband had no memory of the disappearance. It seems that this agent chose to leave quietly for twenty days in order to escape from something he didn't want to face. The sofa and mirror seemed to imply that he wanted to relax but had to recognize the reality. Kidney stones that move every day His father told his son Chunping that there are only three important women in his life. With this purpose in mind, he was afraid of wasting it on boring people. Chunping became more picky about women, which restricted Chunping in some aspects. By chance, he met a mysterious woman named Gui Eri, and the two soon had a relationship. Junpei thought that she was an important woman in his heart, and told her about the novel he was writing. It tells the story of a female doctor who had an affair with another doctor who had a family. During a trip, she picked up a black stone in the shape of a kidney. It seemed to have an independent personality and will. No matter how she discarded it, it would return to its original place the next day. She felt that the kidney stone was related to her internal body, so she began to talk and communicate with it, and successfully started a new life. After the story was told, Kieiri also disappeared. It was already half a year later when I heard from her again, and I also learned that her career had reached a new level. It is unknown why Kiiri left suddenly. Maybe Kiiri was living a gay life like a doctor. She felt that this was not a long-term solution. Maybe she found herself in this story and wanted to start her own business. The kidney stone seems to be a metaphor for the constraints and shackles on people. Some things cannot be thrown away no matter how much they are thrown away. The best way is to accept them. As the article says: The wind surrounds me and shakes me. The wind understands my existence. At the same time, I understand the wind. I decided to accept each other and survive together. Kieiri is also Junpei's kidney stone. Junpei will inevitably have some stubborn ideas when faced with some things, and Kieiri's arrival is to wake up Junpei. After completing the mission, Kieiri disappeared together with the kidney stone. Shinagawa monkey A young woman named Ando Mizuki couldn't remember her name from time to time. The reason was that a monkey stole her name tag when she was in middle school, causing her to forget her name. The monkey was soon found. The amazing thing is that this monkey can actually talk. It said that it can not only steal people's names, but also take away people's negative emotions. It turns out that Rui Ji has always been a person who lacked love. In fact, no one liked her since she was a child. She deliberately suppressed this pain in her heart and wanted to forget it all. This defensive posture became a part of her character. The arrival of the monkey alleviated her inner uneasiness to a certain extent. Perhaps because of the inner pursuit of perfection, Ruiji always chooses to escape from himself and wants to hide his true self. However, each of us is a unity of contradictions, the result of the reconciliation of various positive and negative qualities. No matter which aspect is missing, it cannot be called complete. In the end, Mizuki got her own name tag. No matter what, the name tag was lost and recovered, and her name was also recovered. "She will live with this name again in the future... It is her name after all." Coincidences appear frequently in Tokyo Tales, which is quite similar to the Chinese proverb that "no coincidence will make a book". The story was born due to coincidence, and it became strange because of coincidence, so it became a strange story. However, Murakami does not have much interest in pursuing novels, nor does he have the intention to play with kits and lists of anecdotes just for the sake of sensationalism. He is even less willing to laugh off chance as mere chance and anecdotes.
There are spoilers at the beginning, it's poisonous, I read two chapters before I realized something was wrong. 😎
