About This Novel
Most of the short stories in 2013 were based on current life in China, and only a few works wrote contemporary history. Wang Pu's "Once Upon a Time in Hong Kong", Ai Wei's "Bat Sleeping Upside Down" and Liu Rongshu's "Buddha" are outstanding representatives. Starting from individual memories or childhood experiences, these writers look back on Chinese history from the 1950s to the 1970s, creating biographies of unknown lives that have passed away. They are also making respectable efforts to make that period of history that should not be forgotten truly become the collective memory of the Chinese people.
