About This Novel

When Shen Congwen started writing, poetry was an important entity. He does new poetry criticism, brings new poetry research into university classrooms, and writes a series of new poetry theories. He edited "Ta Kung Pao Literary Weekly" and "Yi Shi Bao Literary Weekly", and worked particularly hard to promote modern poetry. His relationship with new poetry is that of a creator, a critic, and a boosting editor. Every aspect has room for discussion; taken together, it is a rich existence in the history of new poetry. This poetry collection is carefully compiled and selected by Professor Zhang Xinxin, the author of "The Second Half of Shen Congwen's Life". It is divided into six volumes and contains 73 new poems and old-style poems from 1925 to 1980. Among them, "Songs of Zhenyun" is a poem written in Fenghuang dialect, which retains many vivid and lively scenery of western Hunan; "Melancholy Appreciation", "Xu Xu" and "Relief" are three series, which either reflect on current events, relieve love, or mourn friends. They are the mature works of Shen Congwen's new poetry; "Movement" Written at the turning point of Shen Congwen's mental crisis, the situation of struggling in the collapse is heartbreaking; "Old Style Miscellany" was written by Shen Congwen after he recovered from the collapse. He tried to write "history" with "poetry", use "poetry" as "learning", and use old-style poetry to show the development of history and culture.
