This book is a collection of papers from the International Academic Symposium "History and Prospects: Sino-Western Transportation and Chinese Civilization" and the Silk Road Economic Belt High-Level Forum. From August 19 to 20, 2014, the "History and Prospects: Sino-Western Transportation and Chinese Civilization" international academic seminar and the Silk Road Economic Belt High-Level Forum were held in Lanzhou. The seminar was jointly sponsored by the Shanghai Federation of Social Sciences and the Gansu Collaborative Innovation Center for the Inheritance and Development of Silk Road and Chinese Civilization, and was hosted by Academic Monthly magazine and the School of History and Culture of Northwest Normal University. A total of 61 articles were included in the conference proceedings, 45 were selected for this edition and 16 are in the catalogue.
