About This Novel
This is a documentary literary work. The author uses his own experience as the creative background to tell the story of migrant workers working and living in Ningbo. The article selects four migrant families, Liu Ying, Du Juan, Oriole and Bai Ling (me). They all left their hometowns and came to Ningbo from a foreign land to work hard. They started from rented shantytowns, starting from the most basic positions, and moved towards their dreams step by step. Some of them finally left Ningbo due to setbacks and the blow of life; some experienced changes in work and life, and fell back to the place where their dreams began; some broke out of their own world from migrant workers to union representatives... The author not only depicts different families represented by four women with different personalities, but also describes the group portraits of migrant workers. These characters and stories are like silhouettes, reflecting the lives and development trajectories of migrant families, and also reflecting the rooting process of migrant families.
