Shouting in the Drizzle (3rd Edition)
by Yu Hua
About This Novel
"Shouting in the Drizzle" is a classic text in the 1990s and Yu Hua's first full-length masterpiece. The novel describes the growth and spiritual journey of a young man from Jiangnan. The structure of "Shouting in the Drizzle" comes from the feeling of time, or to be precise, the feeling of time in memory. The narrator travels freely through the three time dimensions of past, present and future, interspersing, gathering and piecing together the fragments of memory.

The pen is sharp and the writing is affectionate.
I no longer pretended to have many friends, but returned to solitude and started living alone as the real me. Sometimes I can't stand the torture of emptiness because of loneliness, but I would rather maintain my self-esteem in this way than exchange for that superficial friend at the cost of shame. This is my favorite part. I started reading Yu Hua's books with Xu Sanguan's Blood Seller, and then I read Brothers, Alive, Shouting in the Drizzle. Each book is full of life experiences. Reading during the afternoon break is much more meaningful than sleeping.
Feeling sorry for the child
Mr. Yu Hua's works are so attractive. I read them in my spare time. I have a bad memory and almost forgot about them after reading them. The whole story gave me a sad and helpless tone, and I felt sorry for those growing children. Lulu, a smart and childish child, had to work hard to grow up without the care and attention of his parents. Guo Qing, who was abandoned by his father, initially fantasized that his father would come back to him. Sun Guangming, who lived in the shadow of his brother, lost his young life in the "heroic incident" of saving people. It seemed that only the protagonist would feel sorry for him. His father and brother used his death as capital for their far-fetched fantasies. The protagonist's friend Su Yu died of cerebral vascular rupture in his best years. His family did not notice anything strange about him. The hope of rescue was shattered and death swallowed him up. Children are ignorant, but they are also innocent and sensitive. The scars they suffer while growing up are engraved in their bones, and they can still feel the pain even after they become adults. Sad, cruel, and true.
epitome of life
I know very little about the past. After reading this book, I suddenly felt like I was being dragged into that era. Life is never about one person. Loneliness is always the deepest theme in everyone's heart. I happened to be reading a book about child psychology recently, and I couldn't help but reflect on my past. Family is always a key word that cannot be avoided. Genes are inherited, and so is personality. After living in the world for twenty years, I suddenly found that my childhood was not bad. The people you meet, the things you experience, the trajectory of your growth, and even your life are all compressed into invisible time. In recent years, I have become more aware of some things. I am also becoming more and more aware of the importance of reading. Some time ago, I lived a very passive life, oppressed by life, struggling to survive. I was very confused at the time. I don't know where the future will lead. Later, I went out for a walk, took a look, and saw the broader sky and the broader world with my own eyes. Life, compressed in the timeline, has become an integral part of me. Now, looking back at me some time ago, I would give him a hand, and then tell him with a smile: Brother, thank you for your hard work. Life no longer oppresses me, it blends into my shadow. Happy and grateful.
I like reading Yu Hua's writing style, but I think his works are all tragic, which touches people's hearts after reading them.
Up to now, I have only 7 days left to finish reading Yu Hua's works. I have to say that Yu Hua is my favorite writer. His works are very attractive to me and very readable.
Human nature, ruthless and affectionate, absurd and realistic
I am watching with cold eyes
Just like Sun Guanglin, I am also a person who likes to sit on the sidelines and cannot integrate into the circle of friends in Suzhou and Hangzhou. As an adult, my favorite thing is to sit near the window on the bus and watch the people coming and going on the street, the anxious people looking around, the leisurely people doing nothing, and the lovers hugging each other and talking sweetly.
Yu Hua, why do you always write about children who have lost their support? It's so distressing for people watching!
I have read all of Yu Hua's works and I am a huge fan of Yu Hua.
I have read a lot of Yu Hua's books. The characters are both far and near, and the inner feelings are both exaggerated and realistic. In that poor era, there was a lot of helplessness, and we couldn't determine what it would be like to be in it. Maybe this is life. When it comes to life, adults and children think differently, and everyone has diverse personalities. After reading this book, I felt very confused and confused.
