About This Novel
"The Trial and the Castle" contains two novels, "The Trial" and "The Castle". "The Trial" tells the story of the protagonist Joseph K., Who was suddenly arrested on his 30th birthday. He knew he was innocent, appealed to a lawyer, and tried his best to prove it. However, all efforts were in vain. No one could prove his innocence. The court was a filthy place where filth and evil spread. The whole society enveloped him like an invisible legal net. He was finally killed in a quarry. This was the "trial" of him by the judicial institution under the bureaucracy. "The Castle" tells the story of land surveyor K. Who was ordered to take up a post in a certain city, but was unexpectedly blocked outside the castle gate. The protagonist K. Then started a long and cumbersome tug-of-war with the castle authorities over whether he could enter the castle. The castle is located on a hill in front of us, but it is just out of reach; it is so cold and majestic, like a giant beast looking down at K.; It represents a huge bureaucracy with a strict hierarchy, countless departments and countless officials, but there are countless documents that have been gathered there, unattended and unprocessed for many years. Facing this powerful castle, K. Was helpless and did not enter the castle until the end, nor did he see the castle authority. The novel is shrouded in a mysterious and nightmarish atmosphere from beginning to end, with profound implications and endless evocative meanings.
