About This Novel

As a documentary book co-authored by Tom Clancy and former U. S. Special Forces Commander Carl Stinner, the work details the birth and development history of the U. S. Special Forces and the many major military operations it participated in. It provides information on the recruitment, selection, training, and leadership system of the U. S. Special Forces. As early as World War II and the Vietnam War, U. S. Special forces had begun to play their unique role. However, the U. S. Military has always regarded these combat "elites" as alternative and scorned their unconventional fighting methods as "sideshows." However, in 1980, after fifty-three Americans were taken hostage in Tehran, Iran, the U. S. Military discovered that the traditional military combat method with the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe as imaginary enemies was simply unable to cope with the new world threat of terrorism. Since then, the fate of the special forces has greatly changed. They began to take the center stage of history and gradually became important participants in various major political and military activities.
