About This Novel

This book draws on the chapter-like form of traditional Chinese novels, but is eclectic in its title, breaking through the rigid and monotonous barriers of traditional chapter-like novels. This is one of the novel's innovations. The novel takes the life of the protagonist Feng Zhi'an as the main line, and integrates the historical background of modern Chinese warlord separatism, Japanese invasion of China, and Chinese soldiers rising up to defend their homeland and country. The language is vivid and the plot is moving. It shows the national spirit of the Chinese people, represented by soldiers, who fought against the Japanese invaders and made people cry. The protagonist of this book, Feng Zhian (1896-1954), was a native of Dongxinzhuang Village, Gucheng County, Hebei Province. He was poor since he was a child, so he joined the army as a young man and served under General Feng Yuxiang. He has successively served as the division commander of the 37th Division of the 29th Army of the National Revolutionary Army, the commander of the 77th Army of the National Revolutionary Army, and the commander-in-chief of the 33rd Group Army of the National Revolutionary Army. In 1937, the Japanese invaders launched the "July 7th Incident" that shocked the world at Marco Polo Bridge in Peking. Feng Zhi'an, then commander of the 37th Division of the 29th Army of the National Revolutionary Army and Chairman of Hebei Province, resolutely commanded the 37th Division and fired the first shot of the Anti-Japanese War. He launched a heroic and unyielding battle with the Japanese invaders and kicked off China's comprehensive anti-Japanese war. The novel asked professional painters to create 20 ink paintings to match the content of the novel, and many famous artists signed and recommended it.
