About This Novel
"The Lost Sound 1942" is based on the historical Huitong Bridge encounter in western Yunnan. After cutting off China's good channel for receiving international aid, the Japanese army entered China from Wanding on May 2, 1942, and quickly advanced along the Burma Highway to Kunming, approaching the Huitong Bridge, the best bridge on the Nu River. Once this bridge is crossed, there will be no danger for Kunming to defend and Chongqing will be in danger. General Ma Chongliu, commander-in-chief of the expeditionary force's engineers, fought and retreated to Kunming after the fall of Wanding. When passing the Huitong Bridge on May 5, he left a team of engineers to blow up the Huitong Bridge and block the Japanese troops on the west bank of the Nu River. Mixed in with the tide of overseas Chinese, refugees and expeditionary force soldiers, engineer Ma Changyou and his teammates began to install on the Huitong Bridge. Little did Ma Changyou and his comrades know that the Japanese army, which was chasing General Ma Chongliu, had already sent an elite advance team several times their size disguised as refugees to infiltrate among them, trying to occupy Huitong Bridge first. The enemy is hidden and we are clear, and there is a huge disparity in strength. A fierce battle is inevitable...
