About This Novel

Modern white-collar Song Lijun, a 22-year-old professional woman, lives a busy life from nine to five, but is an out-and-out literary fan. He is obsessed with classic literary works praised as the most outstanding Tanci in the Qing Dynasty by Mr. Chen Yinke, a master of Chinese studies, and evaluated as Nanyuan ("Rebirth") and Beimeng ("Dream of Red Mansions") by the writer Mr. Guo Moruo, and the seven-character long narrative poem "Rebirth" written by the Qing Dynasty female writer Chen Duansheng. In the book, there is a story about a strange woman named Meng Lijun who disguised herself as a man, won the first prize, became the prime minister, and refused the emperor's orders. From this, she likes to adapt it into "Meng Lijun" in various versions of film and television works. That night, I was obsessed with the Huangmei Opera version of "Meng Lijun" and watched it all night long. On the way to work the next morning, I stumbled into a roadside pond. After waking up, I found that I had turned into Chen Changsheng, the third sister of Chen Duansheng, a female writer in the Qing Dynasty. From this, a modern woman enters the turbulent creative world of "Rebirth" and dreams of rebirth.
