About This Novel
"Zizhi Tongjian" is a chronological general history masterpiece, edited by Sima Guang of the Northern Song Dynasty. It has 294 volumes and tells the historical development trajectory from the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period to the establishment of the Song Dynasty in 1362 years. Sima Guang and his team compiled it and summarized many experiences and lessons for rulers to learn from. Emperor Shenzong of the Song Dynasty believed that this book was "qualified for governing Taoism in view of past events" and named it "Zi Zhi Tong Jian". "Zi Zhi Tong Jian Selected Literature and History Reader" selects parts of the original text of "Zi Zhi Tong Jian" such as the strategist's role, the style of famous teachers, reforms and innovations, and the chaos of the Seven Kingdoms, and also matches the corresponding vernacular texts.
