Selected Descartes's Major Philosophical Works

About This Novel
"Selected Main Philosophical Works of Descartes" is a selected translation of the philosophical works of René Descartes, an important French philosopher in the 17th century. It covers Descartes' main philosophical works, including "A Discourse on Method", "Meditations on First Philosophy", "Principles of Philosophy" and "Passion of the Soul". Among them, "Principles of Philosophy" has not been published in Chinese translation since 1958. As an important representative of European rationalist philosophy, Descartes put forward important philosophical propositions such as "I think, therefore I am" and "universal doubt", which had a profound influence on the development of later philosophy. Hegel called him "the father of modern philosophy". The four Descartes works in this anthology have been translated and published in Chinese single editions earlier, but some of them are difficult to find due to their age, and some of them have inherited many errors in the original versions. This book examines the Latin, French and English versions of Descartes's works, marking the differences between the versions, which helps readers grasp Descartes' philosophical thoughts more carefully and accurately through comparison.
