This book is one of the "Shanghai Literature Research Series in Overseas Asian Sinology" organized and compiled by the "Chinese Urban Literature Research" team of the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences. It mainly includes 18 works on Shanghai literature research written by Japanese scholars, which generally reflects the status of Japanese scholars' research on Shanghai literature in the past 30 years. Among them are many works by famous Japanese scholars. For example, well-known scholars in the field of Lu Xun studies, Kiyama Hideo, Maruyama Noboru, and Kitaoka Masako, all have articles included.
