About This Novel

The project was approved for completion in March 2017, and the appraisal grade was good. The book has a total of eight chapters and about 260,000 words. Some of the chapters have been revised and published in domestic and foreign journals, including 2 international English journals, 6 CSSCI journals, and 1 Peking University Chinese Core. The academic value of this study is mainly reflected in two points. First of all, a relatively in-depth and comprehensive interpretation of Johnson's works shows that he and other black writers have different thinking on racial and ethical issues. Secondly, it focuses on the Eastern cultural spirit in Johnson's novels. Although Johnson's approach of introducing an Eastern perspective when reflecting on racial issues in the United States still has certain limitations, it is undoubtedly of positive significance in strengthening mutual understanding and exchanges between Eastern and Western cultures.
