About This Novel

The rise of online literature, especially online novels, is an important cultural phenomenon with Chinese characteristics. It not only needs to be understood in a certain social and cultural background, but also needs to be explored from its own characteristics and production methods. As a commensurable humanities and social science research method, semiotics facilitates the pursuit of meaning mechanisms from the perspective of formal culture. The rules in the online literature field revolve around the "popularity" of readers, which deprives the rights of traditional "gatekeepers" while constructing a new evaluation system. The writing behavior and textual narrative of online novels subsequently exhibit intersexual characteristics aimed at establishing an intimate relationship with readers. The injection of capital into literary websites and the network platform production paradigm link the evaluation system with consumption power, further clarifying the rights subjects in the online literature field as consumers among readers. The gender identity distinction in online novel texts has always been relatively obvious. The personality of a single-gender subject is inversely proportional to the downward movement of the author's posture as the writing subject. There are two sources of value for online literature: first, the literary value of the novel text itself; second, the communication and identity value surrounding the novel text. There is no distinction between the two, and the latter is difficult to provide through non-network literature.
