About This Novel

A woman was killed in a tenement house. There is no breath of life in the room, and living in it seems to be ready to meet death at any time. A wall calendar was found at the crime scene, with the names of the twelve bridges in Tokyo written on it by month. Detective Kyouichiro Kaga was stunned: the same thing had appeared in his mother's belongings.

Everyone has a compassionate heart, and maybe a small, inadvertent act will touch the thread of fate. No matter what crimes they committed, Asagi and his daughter can always have kind thoughts and end the bond between Kaga and her son. This is very heartwarming. Although this is a murder novel with suspense and reasoning, there is nothing blunt at all, and every detail reveals various emotions. This is wonderful and worth reading.

This is often the case when reading Keigo Higashino's books: I already know who the murderer is halfway through the book, and this kind of knowledge does not mean that the suspense in the book is very shallow, or that the readers are all detectives, but that the author will directly give suspects and hints, and sometimes even express them, but I still think about the ending, how it is done and why it is done like this. Often by the end, I am no longer struggling with the subtlety of the reasoning, but waiting for the torture of human nature. This is the beauty of the book.

How come Keigo Higashino's works are almost all about suspects, police, criminals, murder, etc.

A brief review

The deep father's love and the deep mother's love in the book complement each other. Although they support each other in the dark life, it also makes people shed tears. It's just that the woman who worked enthusiastically for friendship ended up with the reality of her death. The person who was the initiator of the loan sharking that caused her father and daughter to escape is condemned by his conscience and lives in a nursing home. Should he lament that good people are short-lived, or believe that those who cause harm to others will last for thousands of years? No matter what, this book still leaves people with warmth in their souls.

Don't ask about honor and disgrace in this life, but ask for no regrets at the end of the world.

Kagami finally knew everything he wanted to know. Even if he couldn't let it go in a short period of time, his old friend had passed away and the past stories would eventually slowly come to an end. He was still a young detective with a bright future, with sharp eyes and firm will. He would definitely be like Tadao said in his last letter, "Happiness and a bright future." He is the resolute and courageous Kaga Kyouichiro.

I especially like Higashino's Kaga series, which directly touches on the most fragile side of human nature.

family tragedy

Kaga's family, Hiromi's family, Matsunomiya's family, three incomplete families, a series of tragedies. The family is the unit of society. If a small family is unstable, the society will be in turmoil.

It's really worrying! After reading this work, I feel really uneasy. What is the meaning of life? What is the definition of fatherly love and motherly love? A thought-provoking work worth savoring. . .

The flowers on the other side are the pain of forgetting the river.

The curtain of longing for happiness is layered one after another, but when the day comes when the truth is made public, the curtain of happiness will eventually fall. And those delicate and gorgeous flowers will eventually turn into bloody red, blooming strongly on the other side of love, igniting the light of the immortal soul.
