About This Novel
The history we usually read is mostly skeletons and outlines, the rise and fall of dynasties, the changes of systems, and the victories and defeats of wars. But what I want to write about is the blood flowing between the skeleton, the flesh and blood that supports the outline, and the hearts that are still beating hard within the established framework. Write about some little people, as small as dust, about their lives, destiny and struggles. I firmly believe that under the dust that spans thousands of years, the light and dust of human nature have never changed. The desire to live and work in peace and contentment, the persistence of integrity and justice, the humiliation and resistance under power, the tenacity and helplessness in the face of fate, these emotions and situations are similar to ancient and modern times. When we read them today, we seem to be watching countless "possible selves" survive in another historical situation and find the "determination" of life. Thanks to these dusty characters. Their stories may be insignificant, but countless such dust particles once held up an era, and the glimmer of humanity among them is enough to illuminate the path we look back on.
