This book is a collection of novellas by Matsumoto Seicho, including two novellas: "The House on the High Terrace" and "The Female Prisoner Without Prison Clothes". "House on a High Terrace" tells the story of a mansion on a high terrace, where an elderly couple and the widow of their son who died young lived. The young and beautiful widow would summon young men to her home every night to talk loudly about art. But my father-in-law held a tacit attitude towards this. One day, a young man suddenly committed suicide... What kind of truth is wrapped up in this mysterious home and mysterious woman? "Female Prisoners Without Prison Clothes" tells the story of a series of murders in a single women's apartment in Tokyo. This apartment is inhabited by a group of single women with an average age of thirty-two, who have lost interest in marriage (or are afraid of marriage) and have different occupations. They call each other female prisoners and call each other's room "Cell No. Xx". They are imprisoned in a cave-like personal world with no hope or prospects, just like female prisoners.
