About This Novel

A detachment of the Hudson Bay Fur Company was ordered to build a new trading station on the border of the American continent north of the 70th parallel north. Due to unexpected reasons, they mistakenly built the trading station on a huge ice floe attached to the edge of the continent. Later, during an earthquake, the ice separated from the land and turned into a floating island. After the ice sheet thawed, all the residents on the island drifted with the sea water, and gradually melted under the dual effects of sunlight and warm currents. Under this circumstance, all the team members united and with great courage and ingenuity, they finally made the ice floe reach a small island in the Aleutian Islands just before it was about to completely melt. The members of the team were able to escape death.
