About This Novel
Once upon a time, there was a mountain called Gaiwan Mountain. The mountain was high, densely forested, and the terrain was dangerous. There is a small village at the foot of the mountain, home to more than a dozen families. There is a family in the village. The head of the household is named Yu Zhu'er. She is a widow. She neglected the man to death when she was young. She lives a miserable life alone with her three-year-old son Xiao Mingzi. One night... It was quiet on the mass graves. All the birds and animals had rested, and not even the wandering ghosts came out to wander. There was no sound at all. A crescent moon hangs on a dead branch. It seemed as if there was only this desperate mother left in the world, standing at the edge of the cemetery with a dying child on her back.
