About This Novel
"The New Generation" is a novel by Qi Tong. In Peiping during the "December 9th" student movement, Chen Xuehai, who was born into a Harbin landlord family, was still a nerd who "only read books by sages" after going to university in Peking. But the fall of his hometown in Northeast China gave him an indignant hatred for the Japanese. Wei Ling, a progressive young woman, gave him a desire for love. He joined the parade under Wei Ling's persuasion. Although he became a "hero", he still held a skeptical and wavering attitude towards the revolution. Under the guidance of Wei Ling and other patriotic young people and teachers, he gradually let go of his illusions about the corrupt and weak government and actively participated in the student movement. With the development of the revolutionary movement, Chen Xuehai and Wei Ling gradually established a revolutionary friendship that transcended love. They separated the two places with different tasks and continued the revolutionary struggle.
