This book is a selection of papers from the Second Sino-British Academic Exchange Symposium on British History held at the University of London in 2012, reflecting the academic cutting-edge progress in British history research. Scholars from both China and the UK conducted wonderful discussions on the theme of the Industrial Revolution in British history, such as O'Brien, one of the chief editors of "Cambridge World Economic History", on the comparison of China and Britain's responses to the world trade system in the 18th century, and Zahediah of the University of Edinburgh on the relationship between the sugar industry in the British Caribbean colonies and the British Industrial Revolution, etc. The articles included in this book focus on the excavation of new materials and the application of new perspectives.
